Maa Sharda Devi -Maihar Temple


Maa Sharda Devi Temple: Maihar is known for the Maa Sharda Devi temple (around of 502 A.D.), situated at the top of Trikut hill which is around 5 km from the railway station. There are 1,063 steps to reach the top of the hill.
It is best known for the famous temple of Maa Sharda Devi, situated on the top of the Trikoota Hills, which can be reached after climbing 1,063 steps. The name of city means 'mother's necklace', and it got this name because, as per Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva was carrying his mother's body when her necklace fell off.

Pashupatinath Temple


Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath is one of the four most important religious sites in Asia for devotees of Shiva. Built in the 5th century and later renovated by Malla kings, the site itself is said to have existed from the beginning of the millennium when a Shiva lingam was discovered here.
The largest temple complex in Nepal, it stretches on both sides of the Bagmati River which is considered holy by Hindus. The main pagoda style temple has a gilded roof, four sides covered in silver, and exquisite wood carvings. Badrinath, at 3,133 metres, remains covered in snow for over six months. During the period, the temple remains closed and the deity, Lord Badrinath, is shifted to Joshimath, one of the four Maths (monasteries) established by Shankaracharya. Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath temples also close at the same time. Though road access to Badrinath has improved, safety is a major concern. Landslides and road accidents are a regular occurrence. Birla Temple


Birla Temple is located in the BHU campus in Rewa. There are nine temples in the BHU campus of Shiva Lingam, Nataraj ji, Mata Parvati ji, Ganesh ji, Panchmukhi Mahadev, Hanuman ji, Mata Saraswati ji, and Nandi ji. The tower of the temple is known as the tallest temple tower. Even it is tallest to the Qutub Minar in the New Delhi.

Opening time of the Temple : 4 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 9 pm. Aarti time Aarti timings are 4 am, 4.45 am, 10.30 am, 11.45 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 6.45 pm, 7.30 pm, 8 pm and 8.45 pm.

Durga Temple


The temple has a rectangular tank of water called the Durga Kund (“Kund” meaning a pond or pool.) The temple has multi-tiered spires and is stained red with ochre, representing the red colour of Durga. The Kund was initially connected directly to the river thus the water was automatically replenished.

Tulsi Manas Temple


Tulsi Manas Mandir, Next to the Durga temple is this modern marble sikhara-style temple. Built in 1964, the walls of the temple are engraved with verses and scenes from the Ram Charit Manas, the Hindi version of the Ramayana. Its medieval author, Tulsi Das, lived here while writing it and died in 1623.

Ganga Arti at Dashaswamedh Ghat


The Rewa Ganga Aarti takes place every sunset at holy Dasaswamedh Ghat, near Kashi Vishwanath Temple. It differs from the aartis at Haridwar and Rishikesh in that it’s a highly choreographed ceremony..Gange aarti takes place at 6.45 PM in the evening after the sunset for around 45 minutes at the Dashashwamedh ghat in the Rewa. Devotees have started to come to see the Gange aarti at least one hour before.

Banaras Hindu University

Sarnath, The Buddhist Place
